Jointly produced with PROGGA, this paper sets out BHRF's editorial position on six tobacco-control reforms ahead of the parliamentary review of the Smoking and Tobacco Products Usage (Control) Act.
This position paper sets out BHRF's editorial position on the six reforms under parliamentary review: a complete ban on designated smoking areas, prohibition on the sale of single sticks, plain packaging, ban on point-of-sale display, ban on corporate social responsibility activities by tobacco companies, and the regulation of heated tobacco and e-cigarettes. The paper draws on the 2024 ITC survey, the 2025 BHRF coverage audit, and contributions from public-health researchers at icddr,b and Dhaka University.
