Dengue Surveillance Gaps in Bangladesh — A 2025 Field Study
2025
BHRF Rural Reporting Fellows (2025 cohort), Editor: Rashed Rabbi
Six-district field study on the operational gaps in dengue case reporting from upazila health complexes to the DGHS dashboard during the 2025 outbreak.
Between July and October 2025, BHRF fellows visited 31 upazila health complexes across six districts to document how dengue cases are recorded, reported, and reconciled with the DGHS national dashboard. The report finds median delays of 4–9 days, structural under-reporting of NS1-positive private-clinic cases, and a near-complete absence of post-discharge follow-up. The report includes a methodology note, district-level data tables, and 14 recommendations for the DGHS and the Directorate General of Health Services.
